happy thanksgiving

so happy thanksgiving out there...went out for a good run this morning and got a good solid 2 and a half miles in...ran 2 so now i can happily eat some awesome turkey and all the extras i want later on...haven't been running as much as i would like lately but have been getting some good quality runs of 2 or more miles in...managed to hit 3 miles run together a few weeks ago and got a 4 mile run last week(together of course)...i'm happy that i was able to get another 4 miler in...took a few months and it was tough but it was great to do...

but until next time...have fun eating some turkey!

oh its you...

so i had a good run today...managed to run 2 and a half miles together...was going to go for 3 but the last quarter i ran was getting dicey towards the end...its weird though when i run more than a mile at a time my legs feel a little wobbly when i stop to walk...but just gotta keep running...today was the first time in a while when i came close to the 4 i ran all those weeks ago...but then again that was something i had never done before even when i was 50 pounds lighter and running more frequently...

been busy with work and stuff which is why i haven't posted in a while but i've started picking up the workouts and stuff...just hoping to keep up with the pace i've been going...got new sneakers tonight which i needed(and also because i happened to step in dog crap when i was out walking a few before...that definately motivated the shopping spree...i mean ewww!) but it was definately needed...haven't gotten new shoes since july and the soles were almost worn through...

until another day though...it feels like today has been the longest day...

oh its you again!

so i haven't posted in a while...haven't really gone running to much lately...starting to get back into excersising and ran a really great mile today...when i've been out i've been teetering around 10.30 or so for a mile so i've been really happy about that...

but i'm glad to be back out there...went for a quick run yesterday...between yesterday and today getting out again is great...it gets tough sometimes getting motivated...at least i have the ipod to keep me going

yay fall

so had a really good run today...did 2 and a half but ran two together...decided to give the running for time a break and have a good solid run week...but i did in fact knock a minute off my time so i'm now running 2 miles in 23 minutes...not all that impressive time wise but i never would have thought i would be running this much when i started back in january...i'm really psyched at the progress...

the half i did run i did "sprint" which was good...so i did quicken it up a bit to see how i could do but if i want to go for mileage quick doesn't work for me right now...although i must say i was able to pick up the pace for the last quarter which also suprised me...who knows maybe soon i'll be able to run a fast paced 2 miler...

but all in all i'm happy with my progress...until next time though since i really should be hitting the hay

run run and run some more

so somehow i managed to get a mile in under 10 minutes...did not even know that was possible or even that i was going that fast...but i'm really psyched that i was able to go that fast...

i really didn't get as much running in as i would have liked this week...i just didn't make the time that i should have...i need to work on my time management with that but i'm hoping that this week marks an improvement in the work out schedule...and the weather...running in the rain is not always fun...

power

so i powered it out today and ran a mile in 10 and change today...yay...happy to be able to get over that hurdle...haven't run another 4 miler but it took me a while to get that done so i'm not to bummed...been trying to run over a mile when i go out then hit up the sprints...this weight is going to come off whether it wants to or not...

in other news school is going well...going non-matric through hunter in hopes of getting into the program at some point...also making some headway in my reading...bought a few more books so the count is now at 33 and i've read 8...closing in on the 9th one...still have a few(ha) to go so i'm thinking i may need to carry this project over for yet another year...one day i may have to stop buying books...ha ha ha

woo hoo

so after days of basically forcing myself to go out and excersize i had a great workout...not only did i easily go out to run but i ran 4 full miles together...i have never done that before even when i was a bit thinner...wasn't running for any sort of time but was happy that i was able to do it!

i really wanted to get a good workout today since tomorrow will be tough with school and stuff and i was glad to be able to pull it out!

so managed to get a good run in today...haven't really been to the track lately though...i've been running around the neighborhood but it took a bit a psyching out to get me to go out and run...

had a good week at the scales though...i guess doubling up the workouts this weekend helped...yay...just need to keep on trucking and getting myself to get out and excersize even when i don't want to...

tired

so i haven't posted in a few days but i've been a bit busy with school...still keeping up with the running...was able to swim a bit this weekend too...doubled it up on friday...ran 2 out of 2.5 and swam another 40 laps as a bit of a "cool down"...didn't eat as well as i should have on saturday but one day shouldn't be to detrimental...

3 weeks!

so i was down again on tuesday...3 weeks in a row! i'm really happy with that but still trying to maintain my workout regime...went out yesterday and ran 2 full miles together...woo hoo...today i ran quarters which was fine...definately don't want to over do it!

i think i'm starting to figure out the whole eating/excersize thing which i'm happy about...just need to keep on trucking!

started school on monday...ended up at hunter going non-matric...i'm happy that i'm finally taking more steps to improving my life...i'm taking human behavior this semester...there's definately going to entail a lot of reading but i think overall it will be really great!

2 weeks

so i had 2 good weight loss weeks...go me! i think i'm starting to get the whole excersizing/eating thing together but still need to work at making sure i keep working on it...but i've been running quite a bit...went out today to make sure i got some in...will be sure to get out tomorrow but who knows how the weekend will be...should stand to be interesting if we do in fact get hit by irene...i mean what's a little rain right????

but if it does rain i do in fact plan to get caught up on some old movies(TCM rocks my world)...i have raintree county and the big lift(yay montgomery clift)...working a bit saturday and had initially taken sunday off planning on heading out east...not looking like out east will be happening so who knows...the sunday visits may end up being cancelled anyway...having a full day off will be nice anyhow...

what the.....?

so its been a few days but crazyness has ensued...monday i went ahead and ran 2 full miles...to fast i ask or not so much...to remind you i've really only gotten back into running a month and a half ago but why not...also i think i may have goofed a bit on the time i've run a mie...didn't calculate from when i actually started running but i have since and have been consistently around 11:30...still pretty amazing since the last time i calculated it i was about 40 pounds lighter and i'm only about 2 minutes over my average time...

but i think the running is helping to tone me up a bit which is a bonus...the weight is slowly coming off and i'm trying to tweak the whole diet/running thing...i may or may not be eating enough(or maybe i'm eating to much)...still working on it...my clothes are getting a little bigger which is a bonus so that makes me a little bit happier then the number per say...yes getting the weight off is important but it will hit eventually...

so i ran a full mile today...go me! ran it in 13:30 which is only 5 and a half minutes slower than my fastest time...to be fair though i was like 50 pounds lighter then but hey at least i got it done...ran 2 miles out of the 2 and a half that i did but i ran it in halvsies...but yeah happy things are progressing...not trying to push it to fast...

hi

so i haven't posted in a bit but i'm back...been a tad crazy with a few things but have been keeping up with the workout regime...been running a bit more...had a great workout last week where i ran 4 quarters in 5 laps which i was really happy about...was getting a bit frustrated because since then i've been psyching myself out when trying to do it again...but i went out today and realized i was having a bit of pacing problem so i slowed it down a bit and managed to run 3 quarters...of course i realized there was a problem when i was struggling to finish the first lap and slowed it up for the subsequent 2...i've had one day where i ran 2 consecutive laps but for the most part they've been broken up...the rest of the time i've run/walked quarters...weird i know but at least i'm getting it done...

the last 2 weeks weight wise has been a tad nuts...had a gain 2 weeks ago then proceeded to take it all off the next week...go me...that almost never happens...i'm just trying to work through the yo yo that has been my life the last two years...but i'm hoping with the added running and the continued tweeking of my diet helps...

but i'm wiped...until next time...

heat

so the heat has been tough on the work out routine...haven't really run over the last few days and really only did 3 and a half miles...call me crazy but at least i got something done...thursday though i ran a little more than 2 quarters(seperately but both quarters i ran a little bit more so maybe 2 and a quarter laps)...but i felt it was time to start stepping it up a bit...
a bonus to the heat(yeah thats right i said bonus) is that i'm making sure to get plenty of water...and thankfully when i'm not able to stop home there are places that sell 2 liters of poland spring for 2 bux...bonus!

tomorrow they say its supposed to be cooler(and by cooler i mean 90 degrees rather than 100 + or 98 degrees)...so we shall see how it goes tomorrow...

hot

so its been tough the last few days getting out there and excersizing but i did it...yesterday i went earlier to the track because i was going out later and just getting through the 3 miles was really hard...but it was done...still ran/walked but not as much as i try to do...

today was hotter but i went later so that was helpful...it was also helpful that its rained a bit during my last mile...and today i was able to run a full quarter which i was psyched about...so 2 full quarters in a week and a half...woo hoo...

weigh in tomorrow and hopefully it will be a good one...not really expecting a big loss since i'm closing in on 3 years of my weight loss journey(argh) and know that by this point losing more than half a pound is unexpected...just want to get the weight off...fingers crossed!

tired

so the last two days i went running at the high school track which is a regular sized track(i.e 4 laps = 1 mile) and ran a full quarter yesterday...did 4 miles yesterday and 2 and a half today...not really loving the whole running thing but if it helps to drop the pounds then i'm all for it...have to say though i've been feeling really good...it helps that i do the run/walk combo so as to ease my way back into things...

i'm a bit exhausted though...maybe its the heat i don't know...i mean it is summer and all that stuff...things are slowly looking up!

fun

so opted to hit the track today and had a really great workout...ran a complete lap around the track thinking that it was a 1/4 of a mile but apparently the track where i went to actually takes 5 laps around to make a mile...so i really ran 1/5 of a mile...but i'm psyched i was able to complete a full lap...

i never really thought i would ever start running again but it actually feels good once i finish...so here's hoping i keep it up

yay

so i had a really good week at weight watchers dropping a whopping 2 and a half pounds...apparently adding the intervals of running has helped...who knew...still have a bit to make up for the disappointing fourth of july week but its a big start...haven't had that big of a loss in quite sometime...so clearly i will be sticking with the running...

my legs are still getting used to it all but i got new sneakers today which should make things better...after 6 months though things have generally improved...i haven't lost as much weight as i hoped i would but i have definitely toned up and am proud of the fact that i have continued the exercise routine that i started...i've managed to get at least 5-6 days of exercising a week although the 2 weeks i've gone every day...i'm also finally getting a lot of water in which is huge for me...even though i'm not where i thought i would be weight wise i'm hoping to get down more now that i'm running and drinking more water things should be looking up...

argh

so didn't have a great way in this past week but have gotten back into the swing of things...i'm not in the mood to give up on losing the weight and i just need to snap back into things...went out and excersized today not at the boardwalk but in the park in our town...bonus that it was raining so i was basically alone(not super smart but i had more fun)...ended up having the best workout...started doing a bit of interval training and ran quite a bit...still walked more but i ran about 10 minutes or so of the 40 minute workout...i felt great...

just have to slowly work into the running...i don't love to run but maybe if i ease into it and run in places not many people will see me things will work out...fingers crossed!

woo hoo

so i'm closing in on 6 months and am at a loss thus far...things are steadily improving...i am walking faster therefore burning more...since starting up at the boardwalk i've dropped my 3 mile time by about 5 minutes...go me!

i'm not down as much as i hoped i would be at this point but am getting there...and after this week (and almost pound loss) i've realized that drinking water actually works...shocker(ha ha ha)...so here's to incoporating more water into the mix of things...

but here's to progress...its weird...hadn't been down to the boardwalk much last month because gas was getting to be a bit much but since getting back down there the last 2 weeks has been big for the weight loss(2 pounds)...that's huge for this point in the game(almost 3 years and 77 pounds lost)...i've gotten used to the .2 or .4 loss with a big loss every 5 weeks or so...i mean i really can't complain at this point...its still coming off and haven't had to many big slides...even the fact that i'm still at it after some of the slides is awesome because if it had been 5 years ago with a big slide i would have caught my losses...glad i'm sticking it out...

wow

yeah so i clearly haven't posted in a while...sorry...but overall i'm down but have basically maintained the last few weeks...a bit of a bummer but at least i'm not packing it back on...keeping up with the walking which is awesome and i'm trying to walk wherever i can...happy about that because i usually do things for a month or so, get bored, and stop but there are days that i don't want to walk but i make sure to get out and walk...

so that's where i'm at right now...more to follow

hello again

so again i have been lax in posting here but its been a busy few weeks with work amongst other things...i have been keeping up with the excersize plan and have had 3 successful weeks at weight watchers...manage to drop 2 pounds which is great...so i'm now officially at my lowest by almost 2 pounds...

after 3 months i'm down 5 pounds...could be more but i think things are finally starting to turn around...now that work will be slowing down a bit i should be able to get to the boardwalk more often and hopefully once it warms up a bit i'll be able to hit the pool...can't wait for that...

looking to save up for a bike and i think i may look into buying some hand weights to use for swimming...i have flippers and hope the hand weights will help to build up the muscles in my arms...

overall its been a pretty positive month weight and excersize wise...just waiting to hear from school...fingers crossed that happens soon

still here

so i haven't posted anything in awhile...sorry! been super busy with work the last few weeks but have managed to keep up with my excersize routine...made it down to the boardwalk quite a bit even if i didn't do the whole thing i did get at least 3 miles in each time...thats the one thing i like about the boardwalk...i know how much i walked rather than just walking for 45 minutes and guess how much i've done...

have hit a stalemate the last few weeks weight wise...but i just need to keep going and things will change eventually...i have to say though normally when i would hit a wall or hit the skids(as i did a few months ago) i would have just given up...but i'm down 75 and a half pounds over the last 2 and a half years(62 weight watchers and 13 that i managed to hold onto from my highest)...so really the fact that i've gotten as much as i have off has been keeping me going...i DO NOT want to put all that weight back on...after all i've gotten rid of all the "fat clothes" and i'm not getting them back...

my applications are in so its out of my hands! that makes me a bit nervous but whatever...actually got my full transcript from catholic and while not all that impressive i still did better in some classes than i remember and apparently i did take a social work class which, for all my hardwork, i managed to get an A-...who knew???

also making some sort of a dent in my resolution to finish the books on my bookshelf...fingers crossed i get most of it done this year...

so its been a busy week but i was down 2 pounds on tuesday! yay...so now i'm officially at my lowest weight so far...exciting!

been down at the boardwalk the last 2 days which was nice...psyched the last 2 weeks have been great and i just need to keep the momentum going...not really in the mood for another backslide...so yay glad things are looking up!

back

so its been a few days since i last posted...gotten a lot done and happily my applications are in! now its out of my control which is a little nervewracking but whatever...been down to the boardwalk quite a bit...today was fantastic and warm...its a bit weird though seeing so many people down there but maybe i've just gotten used to being one of the lone crazy people who hit up the boardwalk when its 20 degrees out...

was down a bit on tuesday...go me...hoping to continue the losing streak...need to find a middle ground to it all and get it done...

rainy days

so didn't get as much walking in this weekend that i would have liked but at least i got out there...but i'm coming up on 2 months of the new "regime" and i'm down almost 5 pounds...thats good! and i'm close my lowest so i'm happy about that...

but other than that things have been crazy...trying to focus on my grad school essay which is hopefully almost done and i can't wait to finish it...but until next time...tomorrow should be a nice day and hoping to get down to the boardwalk...

yay

so i was down a pound and a half this week...woo freaking hoo...so now i'm a pound off of my lowest weight at weight watchers...just got to keep up the walking and get the weight down...but i'm happy that i had a good week

got out and walked everyday this week so far...hit up the boardwalk yesterday which was great...monday and today just stayed around here...glad the rain ended early on monday making walking not as bad as i thought...i've been lucky with the weather excersize wise so far which is great...knock on wood though...

just happy i had a good week...looking forward to keeping up the work

life

so i haven't posted anything in a few days...been busy but managed to keep up with the walking...didn't walk thursday but managed to get down to the boardwalk yesterday and today...yay...walked the whole thing today...it was so nice down there today...here's hoping this week is better than last week (fingers crossed)...

but had a crazy week last week work wise...but it all paid off in the long run...didn't work at all this weekend which was awesome but weird...whenever i work a lot and then get a few days off i never know what to do with myself...but got caught up on some old movies which was awesome and now am watching the oscars...always enjoyable...

Argh

so i stayed the same this week which was a tad disappointing but that just means i have to work harder this week...happy though with the excersize effort i put in...its been a busy couple of weeks with work and still managed to get at least 30 extra minutes in every day...and yesterday wasn't as bad as they said it would be which was a bonus

looking forward to a few days of aloneness this week...just have to make sure i don't watch anything scary and all will be okay...but off to bed...maybe work on finishing one of the books from my bookshelf...this whole borders closing thing and the discounts they have on their books isn't going to help my cause though

busy

so had a busy work weekend but managed to make it down to long beach yesterday and today...go me! yesterday was crazy though with the wind but other than that it was fine...happy that i've been keeping up with the workouts...

worked on the essay a bit this weekend and its starting to seem like a real essay...yay...so now i just need to get my full transcripts in order and get the applications in...happy that there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel...

things are steadily looking up...yay...its supposed to snow a bit tomorrow but here's hoping its not to bad...until next time

nice weather

so the weather has been really nice the last two days so i went down to the boardwalk...walked the whole thing today...woo hoo...usually i just do 3 miles but i just wasn't in the mood to go home...but it was packed which was a bit unusal for me...then again i usually go on days when its freezing or you know when the boardwalk is a skating rink...

things have been going well with the excersize plan...yay...they say its supposed to be a bit nasty on monday but then again it still actually winter(although i am completely loving the spring like weather lately)...if only it could be this nice all year round...but just have to keep up the walking any chance i get...

so it's been nice out the last few days which has been a bonus...was down at the boardwalk on monday and it was fantastic...the waves were insane but ironically no surfers...was down this week so i'm psyched about that...wasn't able to get to the boardwalk tuesday but walked a bit earlier...

warm weather

so its been nice the past few days and i was able to hit up the boardwalk thursday and friday...woo hoo...and as a bonus there wasn't a lot of snow so walking it was easier...had some stuff to do today and wasn't able to get a good walk in but ended up working a bit so got some excersize in there...

but the weather seems to be getting better so actually getting out there to walk should be easier...still looking for music suggestions from people...got some so yay...

polar bears, the super bowl, and rain

so didn't get any walking in yesterday...and thats...okay...it was gross and i honestly don't feel bad...but i got down to the boardwalk today and got some excersize in as well as watched the polar bear swim....from what i was able to see it was pretty cool and they got lucky with a "balmy" 42 degree day...ran into one of my cousins who did the swim as well as others i really wasn't expecting to see so overall it was a fun and productive afternoon

went to a friends house for the superbowl which was fun...thought the steelers were going to win it but those crazy cheese heads controlled the game from the start...but with a state where the fans wear large blocks of cheese willingly on their heads they can't be all bad right...and the black eyed peas were not good...but it was a really good game...

walk

so kind of a blah title but i got some good walking in today which rocks...was supposed to go snowshoeing tomorrow but that's not happening mainly because its supposed to be more rain than snow...and there's a good chance a good chunk of the snow on the ground could go bye bye(which would be nice)...it seems almost dreary with it here...its nice at first but once it starts getting black it gets to be a little much...and also i think the fact that we've basically had snow around since december hasn't helped much either...

but things are going well on the excersize front...just been really exhausted lately...maybe its because i've been walking around more, or not sleeping as much in the afternoon as i had been, or the fact that i've actually getting more sleep then i have been used to...who knows really(but if you do please feel free to share)...and on that note time to shower and sleep it out

it was an icing

so there was quite a bit of ice yesterday morning but thankfully it melted a bit by the afternoon...got out and walked yesterday and today...managed to get down to the boardwalk today...it was quite icy and there was even a good deal of snow on the beach which was pretty cool although i think the polar bear swim is sunday so here's hoping the snow is (somewhat) gone by then...walked one way on the boardwalk and back on the street...hey i'm only a little crazy...

i'm hoping last weigh-in was just a fluke and that i'm managing to get back on track but we shall see...its supposed to be a little crazy weather-wise on saturday but its also supposed to be close to 40(summer already???) so we'll see how it turns out...

closing in on my first month of this whole regiment...hope to have a good close to keep momentum going but so far things seem to be moving along and haven't had to many non-walking days...go me! and i mean i understand that the weight is going to be coming off slowly at this point but i just want to see it consistently come off(fingers crossed)...just need to keep up the excersize and maintain the improved(and much healthier) diet...but things are good at this point...

off to bed...apparently getting a good night sleep is important...who knew...and all this time i thought 6 hours was normal...

so today's weather was not so bad...didn't walk but its okay...was up a little bit on the scales this week...a bit bummed but i know why and i just need to work on it and get back to it...

no book club again this week...damn weather...it has been postponed until march...another book has almost been decided on and both will be discussed...whether it will be at the apartment or someone else i'm not sure so we shall see...

not sure how tomorrow will play out...hopefully it won't be so bad...off to bed...been exhausted lately...and again if anyone has any music suggestions please let me know...the repetitiveness of the songs i have is getting to be a bit old

fun fun fun

so got another 2 days of walking in...got about 5 miles done so yay...happy to get some mileage in...not sure how the next two days are going to go with the weather but hopefully it will clear up like it did last week!

tomorrow is the 2nd attempt of book club here and hopefully it will be a go...also been working and working on my essay and its really starting to shape up into something! yay...other than that life has been moving along...january is over tomorrow which means only 6 weeks of winter left! very exciting...here's hoping february won't be as snowy as january has been but who knows right...

Slow but productive

so the plan i had today was to relax and have a pink panther marathon...however that was not the case...went snowshoeing this morning for an hour which was lots of fun...did some various other things around the apartment, went grocery shopping, and went sledding while managing to f'ind some time to chill out...watching the first pink panther now though...but all in all it was a good day...

crashed on my couch last night...for those of you who don't know i love my couch...its super comfy and fantastic but for the first time in a long time sleeping on it was not enjoyable...what! i was a little shocked at that revelation...i mean after all the first few months we lived here i spent many a non-working weekend asleep on the couch rather than my bed(strange yes but it just sucks you in)...so i guess i'm stuck with my bed and the couch is really just a place to sit on...who knew...oh the things you learn as you get older

so as it continues to snow i keep hoping that when i wake up tomorrow it will be spring...maybe bears have it right by hibernating all winter...but got out to walk today...a little bit later than normal but got 50 minutes in so thats exciting...things are good with that...yay...looks like its going to be crappy on wed. so we'll see how it goes then...

once again though i'm tired so i'm off to bed...planning a weekend long snooze-fest on my couch...very exciting!

the neverending snow

so once again it snowed...this is becoming a weekly occurrence which i'm not really loving all that much...but made it through the day and i'm psyched about that but ended up walking to get chinese earlier and the streets still looked bad...yay...tomorrow should be fun but at least i'm off this weekend!

overall got about an hour and a half of walking in so i'm happy...and i bought myself a sled...that was the most exciting part of my day(shocker right?) got a few runs in on a hill near my apartment which was awesome...there were a lot of people there but i was probably the oldest one there without a kid at least...but i'm psyched about the sled...

needless to say i'm wiped...but i'm happy i've been keeping up my new and exciting workout routine...missed 2 days in almost 3 weeks which is awesome! usually i burn out on something after a week or two but i'm liking the results...yay

superstar

so today was a bit snowy but made it through...yay...and managed to get a half hour walk in during the breaks in the weather...even better...we're supposed to a "bit more" snow over night but its supposed to stop at some point tonight(fingers crossed!)...was supposed to go out tonight for a bit but ended up not going...besides the weather being gross the sidewalks were a bit slippery to walk on...

enough already

so tomorrow is supposed to be all rainy and gross...awesome! the rest of the week should be nice and some bad weather on saturday(finally a day i don't have to work)...so i'm probably looking forward to a day off from excersizing...oh well...but if it is snowy on saturday i have a plan to veg on the couch and have a pink panther marathon(original with peter sellers not remakes with steve martin)...have only seen the original but its been a while so it should be exciting!

had a bit of a quick walk today but at least i got something in...also hit the scales and was down about 2 pounds(yay...its all about the snow shoeing)...so now i'm about a pound and a half from my lowest weight watchers weight(yahoo) and cannot wait to be over the backslide i had back in september...but back to the whole snow shoeing thing found out tonight that you can rent snow shoes at eastern mountain sport(or at least the one near us)...yay! so thats exciting and hope i get the chance to rent some...

back to old movies though if anyone is interested in some goodies they should check out the following(in no particular order): goodbye mr. chips, sunset boulevard, the killing, bullit, the great escape, penelope, the sting, dr. strangelove, and love with the proper stranger(to name a few)...if you should happen to have the channel for turner classic movies check it out...and if you have a dvr as well then you are set!

book club was re-scheduled due to scheduling technicalities...no biggie...theres always next week!

boardwalk

so made it down to the boardwalk today...yes i'm crazy to hit up in the freezing cold but ironically i was not the only crazy soul out there...who knew...it was interesting to see snow on it...not that there hasn't been any on it when i've been there but thats more than i'm used to...there was also some on the jetty's which was pretty cool...was happy to get the three miles in...i figure its pretty early in my whole plan to start getting psyched out of walking right...

looking forward to book club tomorrow night...its here so that should be cool...been making some headway into the books on my bookshelf...got through two this weekend bringing my grand total to three(not counting the book club book) so i still have 23 left to read! woo hoo

the essay on the other hand has not been progressing as nicely as i would like...just wish i could just sit down and finish it but that doesn't seem to be happening...i need to just get it together and get with the program...here's hoping i get cracking a bit this week...

weekend

so back from a fun filled weekend at the new age health spa...although i was a little bummed that i took off two days of walking last week(rain on tuesday and travel day to the spa) i did manage to get some good quality excersize this weekend...both yesterday and today i went snow shoeing which was awesome...and to top it all off managed to last for the full hour and a half and only fell twice(once on both walk!)...this weekend was my third attempt at snow shoeing and finally was able the 3 + miles on both days...the first time i attempted it i got about half way and turned back because i kept falling down(shocker) and was really out of shape...the second attempt last year made it halfway because it was the last day we were day and had somewhere else to be later on...so i'm happy that i was able to get it done...also did a bit of aqua aerobics which was fun as well...today was especially funny being that it was aqua kick boxing and we did a few roundhouse kicks...not to the face as per chuck norris but it was still amusing...attempted to walk a bit on te treadmill...walked about a mile before i realized just how much i hate walking on the treadmill...its kind of like walking in place...dull dull dull...on the downside i did manage to eat more than i normally do...luckily though the food was low cal and i did excersize a lot but still ate more than i should have...

this week looks like its going to be a toughie walking wise...tomorrow its supposed to be cold and the rest of the week might be crappy weather-wise...not sure why i decided now to start this whole workout regimine but i did and i'm determined to stick to it...here's hoping someone around here will want to walk with me so that i can maintain motivation...fingers crossed!

snow and things

so it snowed overnight...always exciting...good news is that we didn't get that much and the sun is already out so no complaints here...heading up to the spa later and still need diet coke...argh...but i will get it done! i'm a little bummed that i probably won't get a chance to excersize today...i went to the boardwalk yesterday(yay!) but am a little annoyed that i'll have missed 2 days this week...just hope i don't get lazy!

but anywho off to get ready for work...should be a fun day

stuff

so hit up the scales yesterday and stayed the same...ironically i'm not to disappointed because i kind of a porker of a weekend...but happy that i managed to get myself out to walk 10 out of the last 11 days...didn't walk yesterday because of that pesky rain...darn it all...but its cool...got back into it today without much hesitation...yay

this weekend though i'm heading upstate with my mother and sister to the spa which should be lots of fun...the food rocks and the theme is dance weekend...interesting since i randomly break into dance at various times like in my car or while walking around the apartment...you know for funsies and all that...and i have to say having the ipod definately helps with the random dance a thons...the two drawbacks...no smoking(boo) and no caffine(triple boo)...the non-smoking should be fine but the no caffine thing is a little tricky(shocker)...i do manage to bring up some diet coke(another shocker but to have a non-caffinated me is not really someone you want to be around)...but all in all it should be a fun weekend of excersize, good food, and some pampering...

so here's to dropping some weight this week and keeping up the workout routine...

Golden Globes and an essay???

so finally starting to make some progress with the infamous grad school essay last night while watching the golden globes...who knew that you can be semi-productive while watching television...my parents should be so proud! but happily it is starting like a coherent piece of crap rather than just crap...i mean you think it would be easy since they did give me 5 questions to answer...at least its moving along so that's something to be happy about it...

made it down to the boardwalk for the first time today since the snow we got last week...it was a bit cold but it was good to get back down there and actually know how many miles i was doing...its supposed to rain tomorrow so i may be taking my first day off...hopefully it will stop by 3 and i can get some extra walking in but if it doesn't no biggie...i've walked 9 days in a row which rocks!

oh and since i have a bigger "fan base" if anyone has any music suggestions that would be awesome! i could always use some new tunes...preferably quick paced but whatever you want to throw out there would be much appreciated...

la la la

so managed to get about 5 miles in this weekend...not impressive but at least its something...now if only my essay could write itself i would be one happy girl...i just want to get it over with so that i can get my application in and start learning...

but things really haven't been all that exciting lately...just work, walk, and write...ha! but i've been loving the ipod i just bought...its definately a lot lighter then the discman and can hold a lot more music...plus its fun playing with all the fun apps...

off to a semi-productive sunday...maybe more later

frustrated

so i'm still having some trouble writing my grad school essay...its weird because i know what i want to write its just getting it written isn't happening...i have a rough draft done at least but getting it to sound intelligent and coherent while answering the questions provided has been problematic...i've gotten some good tips from people and hopefully if i keep plugging away it will get done...

but keeping the walking regimine going...the ipod is definately a bonus and not as clunky as the discman...yay...since sunday i've gotten 20 + miles in which i'm happy about...wednesday was tough because it was a slow day and motivation was lacking but i still managed to get a like 2 miles in...

all in all things have generally been good...glad the week is over and looking forward to a somewhat relaxing weekend

Fun in the snow

so yesterday was a bit anti-climatic with the whole snow build-up...we didn't get as much as they said we would which was nice and i actually got my butt up and drove it...kudos to that! managed to get out after work and walked around the neighborhood and saw a bunch of people old and young sledding down a hill down the block from our apartment...it looked like so much fun!

walked over to best buy today and got myself an ipod...hit a bit of buyers remorse but i think its going to be good to get me more motivated...i mean now i'll be able to have more songs to choose from while walking rather than at most 20 which can get old after a while...

things are looking good all around...generally speaking this year has been going well...i just need to get my grad school essay under control(i.e. edited and what not) and things should only get better from there

snow

so life should be interesting tomorrow depending on how much snow we end up getting...on the plus side i am now the proud owner of a new shovel (courtesy of my mother) because i broke my last shovel digging my car out two weeks ago...but i'm psyched because its a bigger and better shovel that will hopefully help with all my shoveling needs...all, i think, we need now is a sled(rosebud)...

looks like i won't be hitting the boardwalk tomorrow...oh well...was able to get there today though and pumped out 3 miles before hitting the scales...ended up losing a pound and a half which is in large part to the added excersize so thats a bonus...looking into getting a bike so if any suggestions on a good one let me know...also looking into getting an ipod as well...when i mentioned to a friend that i'm still using a disc man she told me that in no uncertain terms that "we were no longer in the 90's(welcome to the 90's mr. banks)...total burn there...

but we shall see how tomorrow goes with work...those lucky teachers and their school closings and those kids with the day off...totally jealous! who knows how many or even if any people will cancel tomorrow...i mean i do have a nifty shovel to help me out and as of right now the roads look good but it has only been snowing for a few hours...we shall see...either way it should be a nice day tomorrow

day 2

so i had the brilliant idea to hit up the supermarket on the way home from the boardwalk tonight not really realizing that it was going to be a madhouse because of the snow threat for wednesday...it was, needless to say, a mistake...took about 20 minutes just to get through the self service checkout line...although i kind of felt a little bad for the people in front of me...they were only getting a loaf of bread and the person in front of them seemed to be stocking up on frozen banquet meals...it was, however, a lot better experience from deaing with the parking lot madness from king kullen last week...but i also hit up the FYE too and got so i married an axe murderer along with some other gems...woo hoo!

things are moving along nicely with the new years resolutions...i've walked 7 miles this week and finished 1 of the books on my shelf and am now happily engrossed in my book club book...i need to finish it by wednesday since thats when its due back at the library then but since its supposed to massively snow that day i might get lucky and the library will be closed...who knows...if it is closed i might walk it over there anyway just to get the miles in although i realized today that when i decide to commit to running i'm probably going to have to quit smoking...

getting back to the snow i'm kind of hoping that it does snow a lot...weird yes but if it snows and i have some cancellations i'll be able to walk it out...i did that the monday and tuesday after the last blizzard and had a blast...granted i was exhausted afterwards but i got two of the best night sleeps i've ever had...i had the best time walking those two days...it was also easier then the last time i attempted it...yay...so we shall see how things play out...i mean we could get lucky and just get a dusting like we did on friday but who knows...

Day 1

so for those of you who know me know that i'm really not all that goal oriented...but in the last few months i've decided its time to make a few changes...besides going back to school i've decided that i'm going to attempt to complete a triathlon...to be fair i'm giving myself 18 months to get into some sort of shape to kick it out and maybe i'll finally be able to get the last 60 pounds or so i want to lose off...

i know its not going to be easy but i think its something i can do...if anyone on long island is around in the afternoons and wants to go for a walk or something let me know...i'm not up for running just yet but i'm going to try to get a few extra miles in a day...whether its around the neighborhood or up at the boardwalk doesn't matter(well except when the weather is bad i may end up staying around here) as long as it gets done...

hopefully by june of next year i'll be ready to compete in a triathlon and have finally dropped the weight i want to
